Printers res

[Original katomi]

hi all I am looking at a new printer the canon pixma pro 1
Looking at the specs the res is 4800 by 2400
My current printer canon pixma ix 6550 has a res of 9600 by 2400
I print ar a3 as a norm at 300dpi
Question is is the IQ less on the pro 1 because the res is less or am I missing something

I have a Pixma but a different model. It was originally set at 300 dpi as the default but I reset it because I was always using the higher 600 dpi setting. I looked quick and didn't see offhand the other specs for the printer. If I have to look at the manual, well...I may think of it and go look it up but I'm making no promises! Do you think the specs are showing for the 300 dpi setting on the new printer? Wondering if that is what makes the difference.
