pro optic lens filters from adorama ??

I saw a recent web article while researching my reply to this thread, trying to find the correct spelling for Marumi brand filters; in that article the author stacked four B+W filters, UV filters, on front of a lens, then stacked four cheapie-brand UV filters on the same lens. Basically, the four B+W filters had no real visible deleterious effect, but the four junkers in combination produced visible degradation. So...if it took FOUR junk filters to make a tiny bit of visually discernible difference, then I would think that might be the equivalent of maybe 8 to 10 points more sharpening in Lightroom.

OTOH, I have had two bad,bad polarizer tests, where in one case a Hoya in the 1980's and a brand-X in 2013 both lead to utterly disastrous results!!!! The first in the mid eighties was so,so bad that I bought an expensive Nikon "Polar", a rock-solid polarizer, built to very high standards, and one which I still use on my wides (I bought another this year in fact, and even older one).

I dunno...try the filters out. See for yourself what bad effect they produce, if indeed they do anything harmful that you can actually see. Again, the tests I saw showed that "some" lower-cost filters were as good as much more expensive ones when tested with rigorous scientific testing instruments. I was surprised, actually.

I use some "pro optic" filters as a lens cap for my frequently hot swapped lenses, they are excellent at committing Suicide and saving my optics from harm if need be.
