Wish I had my external flash with me, but I did the best I could under the circumstances. Feedback?

This is a reasonably done shot of an unfortunate cliche. The leading lines of guitar strings to the player's hands is a natural shot and it is virtually impossible to do it without reminding every viewer that they've seen this shot before a hundred times.
The entire right side of the image is OOF and has bright spots that aren't important but pull the eye.
We know he has a thumb but it is completely hidden in the shadow under the guitar.
The real center of interest are the fingers and they aren't particularly interesting or well-detailed.
This shot has to be superb in detail and lighting and framing to have any impact and this shot doesn't have that.

Yep, I'm afraid to me it's like sunrise and sunset photo's. Unless it's REALLY interesting, it easy to just walk by.

Anyways, I like the photo and every elements came out well. Cliched subject? Maybe. Good photo? Yes.

it is a shame about not having a flash. i think a smaller aperture would have been nice to get more in focus. I think its a good shot for what you had.
dont worry about posting "cliche" shots...plenty of people here STILL post shots of the moon, sunsets, brick walls, and people on train tracks.

eh, cliched is fine. The person who the shot is of will probably like it.

Sure, try to be creative and do less cliched things sometimes, but don't worry about making a photograph that looks like a million other photographs. It looks like a million other photographs because people generally like it. It's cliched for a reason.

That being said, I agree with others that the tuning pegs are too bright and there is too much light spill into the background. I know you couldn't do much about that, but just because you couldn't do much about it, doesn't make it not a negative compositionally (my english teacher would love to untangle that sentence).
