Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Anyone have experience with this version of PhotoShop?

Ever since I got it, its been shutting down on me mid way through working on something.

But that's not my main problem.

What I'm experiencing now is, the editing tools are stuck on the "hand" tool.

So I can move the picture Im working on around when in zoom but I cant do anything else. I can also add a border and probably other things. But that's it.

I haven't used this PS program too much. Its still new to me.

Should I delete the program from my computer then reinstall it?
Or what?

Haven't used that particular program but it could be a couple of things as you mentioned the program could be corrupted and a uninstall/reinstall should fix that.

Do you have enough resouces for the program to operate correctly?

Any updates for the program?

Is the hard drive full?

These are some things that I knopw will give problems to any program.

Sounds like you need to dump the memory. Try restarting and see if that temporarily helps. Does it gradually get worst as you go?

Is you computer powerful enough for it? Does it have a fast/powerful enough CPU? enough RAM? Is your hard drive too slow or failing? Is the Video card powerful enough?

Does this happen on any image? or just a particular 1 or 2... Or maybe 1 "file type" (JPEG, TIFF, CR2... whatever...)

Maybe its a driver issue?

Sounds like the computer is having an issue with "processing" the images....

I believe the computer is powerful enough.
Its a gateway laptop with a AMD athlon 64 X2 dual core processor, RAM: 4gb, HD: 320gb, It has windows vista home premium.
I made sure of the compatibility when I bought the program.

I don't have the software with me at this time, Its at my other place. When I get there ill do the uninstall and reinstall.

Ill check for updates in the meantime.

Weird. I just tried using it a few minutes ago. Worked fine.

Yeah anyway it acted up on my yesterday.

Apparently Vista was a little problematic but is it possible that your computer was updating itself and was causing the problem? If you're running 32 bit Vista does Elements have a 64 bit version and you installed that instead? (don't know if that can be done)

When was the last time you cleaned out the registry? Defrag?

Look at what programs are starting up. Is it possible that your firewall or anti virus program thought it was a problem?

How many other applications do you have running in the background at the same time?

Having the caps lock key on can cause strange things to happen.

Photoshop usually gets stuck on the hand tool when it's out of memory.

Go under Edit > Preferences > Performance and adjust the memory usage allocation setting .

Laptop displays are notoriously bad to use for image editing because they have limited accurate viewing angles (twisted nematic (TN) display type).

Many laptop owners use an external IPS (in-plane switching display type) to address that issue.
