Question about 'curves' in CS5.5 (Photoshop)

Just starting to muck around in PS and am loading old snaps to look at histograms and Curves.

What I'm having trouble with is what I'm seeing onscreen with Curves. Sparky posted a tutorial and his screenshots of Curves showed a distinct histogram on the graph. In my program, I can barely see it, or not at all, it's very close to being 255, maybe around 250 or so, just a faint ghost. Each color channel is a little better, but still a very very pale color.

What's up with that?

Never mind. I poked around and reset the video properties back to default, I guess it was a bit out of whack. I can see it now...
