New here and new-ish to the photography world.
I'm puzzled by a photo I took yesterday... A year ago we had a "homecoming" photoshoot with our daughter when she came home from the NICU. I'm super sentimental and like recreating photos to show how much she's grown from that little 4 pounder!

This is the photo I tried to recreate from the photoshoot with a pro last March:

And this is the photo I took yesterday:

My husband and I are leaning forward to keep her from rolling, but other than that everything is in the same position.
Looking for an explanation for the size of the crosses increasing so much. Wider lens?? I shot the 2nd photo with a Canon 60d, Sigma 35mm at f1.6.

Probably a simple explanation, still have lots to learn! Thanks!

I'm guessing that the first was probably shot with a focal length of 24mm or even less. The wider the angle, the more "separation" you get between the background and the foreground. Since the background is smaller and apparently further away compared to the second shot, that would my guess for the reason they are different.

Welcome to the site. Did you use the same camera and lens for both shots?

Thanks!
I didn't take the first shot and do not know what equipment she used.... trying to figure that out! :)

Maybe 24mm, thanks!

The first photo was removed... definitely have a copyright release for it, not sure how to get that out there!!

Think I got my answer anyway!
Thanks pgriz!
