Quite Hard to get

This little wader is quite difficult i get a decent image of- it's a Water Rail ( Rallus aquaticus ) often heard but never seen seen, they spend their lives low down in dense vegetation and reed beds in most area's of the UK

So I was extremely lucky to get this image I think?

I don't think I've ever seen one. From the way you describe it sounds like it behaves like our green heron. Nice shot and thanks for sharing.

Thank you Kirk- these are so elusive staying low in the vegetation and reeds, I don't think during my time as a photographer, I have ever seen one fly

Yep, sounds a lot like a green heron alright. I've seldom seen them fly, also, they're usually just sitting or standing in place.
