Qusetion about Olympus EM5 MARK2 with 12-50 lens AF/MF

Hi guys, I got a question about AF&MF.
Bought a used Olympus EM5 recently, and when I tried to practise manual focusing by picturing several close objects(without using macro focus), I found that I have to turn focusing ring for like more than 10 circles to change focus from a front object to a behind one(they are really close to each other). I donno if it is normal or not because I'm a 100% newbie in photography and it's my first camera. Did I do something wrong, or maybe I should just use macro focus?

I'm from China and there's few information I can find in Chinese about my confuse so I have to bring this to y'all, and forgive my poor English.

Any help will be appreciated!

Your English is excellent, don't give it another thought.

My suggestion would be to go ahead and try the macro focus and see what difference, if any, it makes.
