Hiya guys,

I do a local radio show with a couple of friends, and have just got a nikon D3000 c/w 18-55mm lens.
I am going to try and take some pictures tonight during the show, the lighting is pretty dim.
So how can I make the most of what i have got? Any particular settings on the cam/lens that you would recommend?

Do you have a D3000, or a D300? Because the two are very different beasts.

The Nikon D300 also includes a new white balance tweaking tool, with x/y axis adjustment, as we've seen on a few other digital SLRs.The camera was set at ISO 100 and f/8. Shot in RAW, adjusted in Capture NX, further enhanced in CS2 with fake HDR. I'm thinking that f/8 is the sharpest aperture for this lens

No chance with the lens you have

I only have a D40, but I find that if I use the pre-set modes and put it in nighttime mode it works well, but as I've learned and if I were you, I would shoot in RAW so that you can play with the light balance after the fact. If I learned anything at all here on this forum...it's to shoot in Raw...best advice EVER.
