Shot at 300mm f/8 1/1000. The fact that 1/1000 really didn't freeze (no pun intended) the rain is a testament to the speed at which this downpour was traveling.

Looks like you stopped the action to me. Water, which is structurally weak, tends to drop in an aerodynamically slippery form. Hence the elongation of the drop.
