RAW exposure latitude?

Hey all,

When editing a RAW image, what kind of problems do you face when changing the different sliders? I'm mainly wondering about the exposure slider, does changing this degrade the image much? or not at all? all the articles I read about RAW usually just breeze over everything.

The same problems as JPEG. While it is possible to recover shadow detail you do so at the expense that noise is brought up with it. You can not recover highlight details. The advantages RAW has is less posterisation due to more colour information and less guess work when actually playing with the sliders.

That said If you underexpose by 1EV and then bring it up 1EV in lightroom it still looks worse than doing it right to begin with.
