Raw software

I would like to find out what decent priced software £200 is high as i could go,that can handle raw format,I've tried the free software gimp and paid software photo explosion deluxe version 4 cost me about £40 and it was absolutely no use what so ever

Not sure the exchange rate but does Lightroom fit your budget? Or if you have a Mac, aperture is good too.

What's wrong with the software that came with the camera?

GIMP, in it's native download, cannot work with raw files. You need to install UFRaw.

Gimp works pretty well with the UFRAW plugin... But if you are a Canon shooter,; the Digital Photo Professional software that comes with the camera works pretty well. I'm sure "the other guys" like Nikon, Sony amd competitors offer something similar.
