I am always learning new processing techniques for processing my astro images. Sometimes it involves new software, new order of operations, use of new scripts or processes, and sometimes all of the above. Just like all photography, post processing is an ever evolving process.
Here is an example of revisiting two of my previous images I captured in November of 2022. Using the same raw images, and applying new/different processing techniques. Just like all my photography, processing is an continuous evolution. In the case of astro imaging, teasing out detail and colors, and preserving star color is always a challenge.
My primary software for editing astro images is PixInsight. It's a powerful, astro specific, processing software. I also use PS for final edits to color, contrast, burning and dodging, and exporting.
I'll put my previous versions in the comments below.
