The magazine thread got me interested, so I'd like to hear about some pretty highrated books you guys have read.

I've read:
understanding exposure
Creative people photography

Both by bryan peterson and i highly reccomend them both.

I recommend the book Photography

ISBN 0131752014

It is however an expensive book, more like a college textbook on the art of photography, and it costs nearly 100 dollars. You can probably get one used for about anywhere 65-80 dollars?

Other books I would suggest are

The Family of Man: 0810961695 which is photographs of man and society, they are really good.

lastly

Criticizing Photographs: 0072977434

though the last book is reserved more for art

For learning lighting I would suggest Light: Science and Magic (3rd edition).

Well, of course, I recommend my own book, but it is not finished yet. I hope to have it done by this fall.

I have that book. I got it free though.. from an ex-girlfriend.. heh, heh.

I also recommend it. It's great.

"The New Manual of Photography" (or any of the previous versions) by John Hedgecoe. Well worth having in your library.
