Red-Bellied Woodpecker

Had a very nice day, today, so sat out on the back steps hoping the birds would become accustomed to my presence so I could catch some of them at the feeder. Was not to be, but I spotted this guy checking out the telephone pole nearby.

1-5 were shot through the branches of a tree. #4 & #5 were manual focus due to the interference.

Though I have a confession to make.

All-of-a-sudden occurred to me that what I'd kept was a small subset of what I snapped. Turns out only #4 and #5 are manual focus. (I've corrected the OP to reflect that.) Just reviewed what I'd sent to the trash. On only maybe half of manual focus ones was the focus good. And, of those, many were duplicates as I was shooting in high-speed continuous mode. So I guess my manual focus chops aren't that good, after all
