Hi Guys,

I have a doubt in selecting focusing points in my camera.I have canon 500D and when i try to take photo of a butterfly i can see that some part of it is very sharp and remaining parts as blurred..Why its happening so..What setting i should make to get the butterfly completely in focus..I think its something related with metering modes..Could anyone help me on this.

Thanks in advance
Cyril

I suspect that your problem is more likely related to depth of field (DoF) which is the amount of an image that is in focus. This is a function of the aperture that you have selected; the smaller the aperture (bigger 'f' #), the more DoF you have, however at very short ranges, DoF can be very shallow, sometimes just a couple of mm. Check out this on-line calculator for more information.
