remote cable releases

i have a question about the nikon MC-36 cable release.

since i've been unable to actually find this info, can you set how long you want the shutter to be rather than holding in a button? for example is there anyway to set it to hold the shutter open for x amount of seconds? hopefully this makes sense.

if you can in fact do this, great, if not, i'll go with the MC-30 which is ~$70 cheaper.

I believe that is the exact purpose of that remote. The shutter timer and the intervalometer. Although if you are price concious I know that there are some Chinese companies who love selling knockoff Nikon remotes. My last $15 single button remote lasted 2 years so I got my use out of it.

eh i'm not really too worried about the price. since i'd rather spend a little bit more now for something that i know will last me a good amount of time

Yep, the MC-36 does exactly that.

I bought this remote for my D300, Phottix Cleon N8. I really like it so far. Can be used corded or wireless. Shipped for just under $50USD. I haven't tried to test the max range yet, mabe 50 feet so far.
