Not really anymore. It's getting rather dated, but I guess it depends what price you can get it for. A bit of advice for all your future threads because you did the same thing with the lens; we can't answer your question without the information we need. For instance my dad's point and shoot camera would be awesome value if someone gave it to him for free.

Personally unless you are getting it REALLY cheap I woudn't buy it. The technology of it is pretty old by now and if you are trying to save money you might be better buying a D40 to start out with.
