Old white guys - one with brilliant white hair - are relatively rare sights this far north.
We had come up from Louang-Namtha for the day.
This was near the morning market and they could have been from an outlying village.

These were women from outlying villages selling Lao Lao, a very potent version (at least to my taste) of rice whiskey.
Larger bottle was 1000 kip asking price, about $1.12

This is the distillery. Note the complexity of the machinery. I had a drink collected right from the bamboo pipe that burnt my esophagus and my stomach, a burnt that lasted a full day. It actually isn't too bad in a cocktail, mixed with mango or papaya juice.
