Glad you bumped the thread. I think these are nicely done. I love the pose of the mama bird with the food in her mouth. Nice dof. The picture if the babies is nicely framed and the attention goes to their little heads. Could probably crop a bit off the bottom of the first picture - the tangle of nest in the foreground is a bit overwhelming. And it's not a huge distraction, but I'd probably clone out the strands of cobweb that caught the light in the background and that blue blob thing in the top right.

Overall, I'd be pleased with them both.

Thanks! Wish I had 300 or 400mm, but I was able to manage with 200 and cropping.

Cheers!

One final bumpski for those who may have missed this thread. I seem to post at odd hours where the forum is pretty quiet.

Well...compared to what I was trying to achieve this evening, yours are more nicer. I like them both.

Thanks for your kind words!

seems like you did fairly well with what you had to work with. some areas of photography, well really are a lot about the money invested in equipment. These are fine for what you apparently have.

I'd love to have a longer zoom, even a consumer level one (maybe the big new fancy tamron), or if my money was limitless a sigma 120-300 2.8 with TC's, but my fish tank and life is currently dominating the bank accounts. And after all I spent on landscape equipment, I decided to back off camera purchases for a few months.

Cheers!

Nice1 besides the fact that baby birds aren't always easy to get at, I like the fact that you're showing us a bird that I think gets ignored by photographers, probably because they are so common. well done!

Thanks! I agree that robins seem to be overlooked quite often.

Nice catch of the babies and that's not a everyday see. Nice catch on the second as well. 200mm is rarely enough for large birds let alone robins. It looks like you made the best of your tools on hand so that in it self is good. Warning! bird photography is highly addictive.

Bird photography is very addictive, I love it. As for the photo pretty good considering the lens you have. Like someone else said cropping would improve it. Nice catch of the robin with dinner for the babies. I am a dslr noob myself and so much to learn.
