It looked like a dust devil but with a lot of chirping and feathers flying. Luckily my camera was set to 1/1000 with the zoom set to 300mm. The f/10 was an accident but it probably helped to keep everything in focus. I had to push the button for each shot as it was set to single shot but, being an old bass player, my index finger is pretty fast. It just goes to show you that if you keep your camera handy sooner or later you'll get lucky.
