Utah is awesome. Never seen anything like the south part of the state. Doesn't even look real sometimes, looks like a Roadrunner cartoon...

People gonna like this picture a lot for sure. I am afraid that for me this picture as a photograph is a bit overcooked in the direction of the fantasy world. Basically sky is stealing the show. Rocks from the title are the much weaker element, looks, like they are watching this incredible display on the sky.

My first reaction was - holy crap that's a dark sky. But I think the whole thing is just surreal enough that it works. Great texture, great sky. I like it.

Lot of haloes in those foreground rock formations. I saw two competing elements: the sky and the rock formations both fighting my eye for the same respect and it was not possible in your configuration to equalize that balance.

In my crop, I chose the rocks as the primary focus point and even lightened them somewhat to further emphasize that prominience. I left the sky and backdrop as posted.

I'm not a big fan of black skys. In this case I agree with Timor in that the sky is so powerful, the rocks seem like an after thought. I'd love to see this with a 18% gray sky.
