Roman Seagull

A photo I snapped of a seagull in Rome earlier this summer...I'd consider him to be pretty photogenic!

I think he considers you rather annoying, at least judging by his expression!

I actually quite like seagulls, and I do find them photogenic. A couple of thoughts about this particular image: (1) You've composed it with the subject in the centre which is generally not the most visually appealing, and in this case, it has had the unfortunate side effect of giving the poor fellow a 'crown'; that is, the tower of the building in the background is now growin out of the centre of his head. (2) It's slightly under-exposed, I suspect as a result of using wide-area/matrix metering which sampled exposure data from the whole scene, and, because of the brighter sky, skewed the exposure slightly.

There are many gulls none of which are called Seagull. On our recent cruse the on-board naturalist referred to gulls as seagulls & I asked her why & she replied that it was easier than identifying them. I suggested then she should just call them Gulls.
