well done, very nice.

It is well done ... but this type of isolation, white ... is not my cup of tea. To my eye, a white background makes it look like a decapitation.

That’s interesting to hear your point of view and actually what you said is spot on it’s a Roses head on a mirror do you think it would have worked better leaving the stalk on it or am I flogging a dead horse with this one?

I think it would have been much better with dark/black background. The colours would really pop. Not crazy about the white at all.

I find photography fascinating and this what keeps me interested in it I recently posted a photo of a Kingfisher with a black background to just as you say make the colours pop but someone said the black background was distracting I post a Rose reflecting on a white background and your view is that your not keen just goes to show how photography is such a diverse subject and I think that’s fantastic keeps everyone interested. Thank you for your thoughts I will give a black back ground a go but obviously minus the reflection

I very much like the color subtleties that a high key brings, so for me the background isn't the problem. Rather as Gary pointed out isolating it from the stem is the issue.

I have to agree.

I like the image and background but without the stem to anchor it, it almost feels like it's been cut out and placed on the background.

Still a cool image and well taken

I think a lot depends on the subject and how it was done. I like your rose image better than the kingfisher. Correct me if I am wrong but both backgrounds were done in post? The kingfisher image just didn't blend in with the background, it looked fake. Looked how it would if you cut it out with a pair of scissors and glued it on a black background.
I would like to see what the original shot looked like.

The rose image is much better but once again it looks processed, meaning the background was post processed. Would have been much better if shot in high key. I would have like to see the same shot with a real black backdrop and not post edit it in.

But these are all personal opinions and preferences.

And I also agree about the stem.

Cool yes I think the stem would have worked better looking back on it I will post the original kingfisher photo up tomorrow thank you so much for all your opinions I will take them all on board.
