Wouldn't that be similar to the Foveon x3 sensors they use with the Sigma DSLRs? I'm here at work and can't really grasp the concept of that drawing because I'm breathing in these braindead gasses they're pumping in the room to keep us here.

Alright, jokes apart ... Canon does have a patent on a sensor design which will have a shutter control on every pixel. I have nothing to substantiate this.
