Local town pond, portrait and landscape, which is preferable?
Or is there another crop for either?

Is it the portrait format or the ripple which you like - would the landscape be as good/better with a ripple?

The ripple adds nicely, but it's the portrait of the tree in portrait orientation that I really like. The landscape seems without a true subject to me.

In the portrait one the subject as the tree doesnt interest me much.

In the landscape one the subject as the sky is drawing me in so I prefer that one.

The portrait is really fine.....nice work and the ripples was an added touch.

They each have good qualities, but I prefer #1 for good balance. The circular ripples are a good counter-balance to the tree. Other elements contribute to the overall balance.

#2 seems nearly static by comparison.

Heres an answer....Can you take the best of both photos and combine them?

The lighting of the stone in 2
I like the fact that 1 doesnt have that really dark area on the left.


Both need to be straightened. Either that or I am sitting on a chair that is leaning...
