Salgado Passes

I read the link, also looked into his images. Like many other "noted" photographers, I always get this nagging question in my mind. Were they recognized because their subjects made the image or did their photography make the subject? In the case of the one above his images aren't bad, I wouldn't put them in the excellent category, but no doubt the subjects really pegged the interesting meter. Then there's the issue of changing tastes in modern viewer's, who've been bombarded with modern technology such that a simple image from 30yrs ago may not hold the same appeal.

Salgado, like most of the greats, was all about impact. If you never saw them, his 1991 shots of the Kuwait oilfield blow-outs are jaw-dropping.

Every time I see Salgado’s photographs, I’m moved.
