You know we live in a different world today, something innocent 30 years ago, can quickly turn into accusations today. It's made me self conscious when I take pictures of children, especially in street photography. Many times passing on the shot, rather than appear as improper. Back several years ago we had an employee (grandfather) who was accused by a vindictive daughter in law, of child sexual abuse because he was tickling his granddaughter. Completely innocent, and after an investigation he was cleared of any wrongdoing, BUT he later found out that anytime an investigation is started in this state for child sex abuse, (regardless of innocence) a notation that there was an investigation remains on your record for 5 years before it is expunged.

We had a boozy debate following Mann's recent Texas kerfuffle on these matters. A super-majority(OK, 5 out of six)concluded that the old gauzy stuff by David Hamilton and the more recent, contrasty b&w from Jock Sturges really did cross a line Mann never approached. Some bigger, more threatening matters face us all now but this seemed worth the scuffle.

Well. Here's hoping the denizens of The Danbury Institute never cross the threshold of The Louvre to view what's hanging on the walls in there. They'd likely decompensate.
