Here's a few from the photo outing with Mitica100 and Malachite last night. We braved the 106F temp. and lazyass people that leave their trash and piles of **** all over the shore of the river. Plates with their lunch on it, bottles and cans everywhere... if you can't tell it makes me mad :pissed:

Here I went with a bulb exposure and fired a weak vivitar flash on it a few times.

These are all really beautiful, Voods. I like your idea of the flash on the cactus to throw some color on there - it looks terrific! :D

Your composition on the first one is wonderful. I think overall the third is my favorite - the colors are a bit more saturated and there is not a ripple in the water to distort that perfect reflection. Gorgeous!

Gee.... litter, from anywhere people can hike up to, with no Park Service staff to run along behind them with a broom and dustpan...? How unusual. :irked: Arizona will be trashed within 5 years. Better get your shots in now, while you can still dodge the rubbish piles. :x

Thanks terri!
Funny thing about the colors on the 3rd one... This spot here is notorious for a very small window in those last rays of light causing the rock to glow. The light will be warm towards the end of the day and then go away. You think it's over and start to head back when out of nowhere that glow comes. That 3rd shot is with that magical light :D

"...that magical light..."

Sounds like Arizona to me. And Zion, baby.

See, I don't need a digicam when I have my own digital totin' pre-exposure assistant with me :p Better than a polaroid back anytime..........

I really hate when people do that around here too. The bastards enjoy the place but don't help to keep it that way. I hate how great places start to look like a trash dump after awhile. :x

Anyway, these are great pictures voodo. Your 3rd one stands out for me. Great water effect and lighting on that picture.

Really nice work Voodoocat, crisp with excellent colors!
Don't blame you for being P/O'd with morons and their trash, makes me wonder what or even if they're thinking.

Beautiful shots of a beautiful land!!! The third and forth frames were the most exciting for me. The red mountain range in the Salt's reflection is surprising. Not to mention the deep red. The light in the cactus shot is classic. Personally I feel a little cheated, by not having the whole plant lit.

I feel sad when I find litter. In my infinite wisdom I end up carrying it out. Needless to say I am mad by the time I get back to the car.

Beautiful shots! The 3rd is my favorite, love those hues.

Yea, people littering really pisses me off as well. I remember about 7 years ago a climbing trip to Enchanted Rock in Texas. We happened to show up on a weekend where there were 5 church buses. They had set up this huge camp and had... TVs with them... *sigh* and then while passing a group of them on the trail we saw them just tossing their empty soda bottles and chip bags on the ground... and the adult escort with them didn't even care. Needless to say we had a few "words" with them, and they were very rude and still didn't seem to care, until we reported them to the park.

Grrrr... still makes me so mad just thinking about it!

I'm gonna go back out to some saguaro's with a step ladder so i can flash the top :D First time, I've had the chance to play with light like that. Gotta love digital for that purpose.

If we had a dumptruck, I would have been glad to remove the trash. I'd grab their litter too.

The step ladder is a brilliant idea!!! That stinks you would need a dump truck to carry out there junk.

I hate to side track from the photos, but who in this day and age has that kind of disrespect to trash the joint? Lungfarmer's tale was particularly disturbing. If he does not read my post, let it be known that he gets credit for doing the right thing.

The first 3 are really gorgeous. The cactus is nice, too, but it doesn't compete with the others although the fill-flash was a very nice twist.
