SD to CF adapter, use in camera?

I am planning on upgrading my camera this summer from a Canon XSi to a Canon 7D. One thing I am not excited to have to change is from using SD cards to CF cards. Trivial, I know

However, I cam across a post online regarding an adapter that converts SD cards into CF cards. I can't find any info on whether it works in a camera, and if it affects performance. Has anyone tried it? If not - any speculations?
