Second Stab at B&W Conversion

I received some pointers on my b/w conversion last night and I tried to put them into action this evening. Please let me know if I'm on the right path. I hope I'm at least heading in the right direction, lol.

I really tried to pay attention to not blowing my whites this time.

I like the colors, but I think you need to turn down the clarity. Its almost at an HDR.

Here's one of my quick conversions, but what happened bottom right corner

Wayyy too dark. This isn't black and white.. more like different shades of muddy grey.

What is that (gag me with a spoon) background?

To guage exposure I look for skin highlights to be between 235 and 240 in the red channel. I had to add just over a full stop of exposure to attain those numbers.

I'll be back after I have has time to do a B&W conversion from the color photo.

LOVE it!

LOL@ the framing though...

IMO not wayyy too dark but i'd place her left cheek (her own 'left') in Zone 6 rather than 5.

Spent an extra 30 second on

That is her wall. 10 year old girls have their own idea of what is "cool"

I'm liking everyone's edits. Thanks guys, it's nice to see different takes on b/w on the same image.

The dark shadows under the eyes don't seem flattering to me, which is why I dodged them.

I think the shadows under the eyes make her look happier

I laughed at this, she just called me crying her eyes out because her sister is LOOKING at her.
