Self-Portraits

Hi everyone,

My last post provided a little controversy as far as whether it was art or just 'hey look, what am I smoking?'. So now that I've got a new camera I decided I'd do some self-portraits that will hopefully be accepted a little better than last time

All photos taken on a Fuji FinePix S5700, both taken on Manual mode.

Any pointers or comments?

The first one feels a little out of focus, I'd try sharpening it up a little bit. Second one has really good lighting and shadows. As for the images from a non-technical standpoint I'm not a big fan. I just feel like they are a too posed/artifical, just my opinion but keep posting.

Thanks for the feedback, I agree it looks a little soft; I'll see what I can do.
I took hundreds of photos moving a desk lamp around getting some interesting angles, just experimenting really, I quite liked the way this one came out.

The reason the poses feel that way is because they are my main aim was to get used to the camera and have some fun in the process. Hence they aren't really that imaginitive.
