The TV commercials in the late 1960's and early 1970's used to show the party coming to a halt when the beer ran out, with the tag line, "When you're out of Schlitz, you're out of beer." Yeah...riiiight....more like, "When you're out of Schlitz, consider yourself lucky to have lived."

What US Beer are you talking about? Coors? Bud? Miller?

None of those are real beers that you drink to enjoy the flavor. They're mostly on the market to keep heavy drinkers hydrated.

Ron, Ron, Ron...not that much US beer uses rice...barley malt and hops are still key,critical ingredients in US beer...

One of the largest US beer brands that does use some rice is Michelob...

Have you had any of the new American "craft beers" within the last two decades? Or are you still drinking some of that fine Canadian consumer beer like Labatt's?

I had a couple of pints of nice a nice locally-brewed IPA this weekend and it was delicious. Ron, I bet you are old enough and worldly enough to have tried American Schlitz beer back in the day...I'll bet it was so un-memorable that you forgot about it!

We were in State College PA a few years ago in a store front brewery & had some craft beers that were very nice.

I found what is sold as "malt liquor" stateside tastes like Canadian beer.
