Self Reflection -C&C

So I was going to try these for the February challenge of "Self Portrait" but they're not really turning out the way that I was hoping they would. Plus I don't really have a way to take the picture without the camera being in it. I could have my camera on a tripod and set with a timer but it would still be captured in the reflection. Anyways, after about 80 attempts, these two came out the best. Let me know what you all think, I'll figure something else out to use for the challenge.

the concept is good but the focus is on the hand leaving the reflection kinda secondary. Keep at it, you're on the right track.

Thanks Trever.

The second one definitely the focus was on the hands and not the glass ball. I was trying to focus with the camera away from my face so I wasn't hidden behind it.

I just noticed too that the first one is a bit overexposed.

I was trying to mimic this drawing here, at least the general concept of it.

if you have a tripod and a remote shutter release you may be able to get pretty close to that drawing, and it may be a bit easier... especially if you can set the ball where it will be in the picture then make sure the focus is spot on before sitting down and replacing whatever is holding the ball with your desired hand. Good luck!

Thanks for the input and advice! I don't have a remote shutter release, not yet anyways. I'll try the same thing with the built in timer function.
