Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
A friend of mine shoots with, I believe, a Nikon D40. Her photos have a pretty pronounced color cast to them. Not being a Nikon shooter, I don't know how to set the white balance, and I've not found what I'm looking for online.

Does anyone have a link to a tutorial for setting it to auto white balance? That'll work just fine for her.

Thanks!

The D40 is one of those models with very few direct external controls. I believe the best (maybe only) way to change many of the features, is to first press the 'i' button. That opens up the info screen, where it shows all of the settings in an arrangement of boxes. You use the thumb pad to navigate to the box/setting that you wish to change, and press OK. That will open the screen where that setting can be changed.

So to change WB, hit 'i', go to the WB box and hit OK. Then choose the setting that you want.

Camera should not be in green 'fully auto' mode.

Pretty much that. I don't belive the D40 offers any fine-tuning of the auto WB (like pushing is cool/warm) but you can do a custom WB from gray card.

It's under menu and set white balance. I know it sounds broad but it's really that easy( I'm holding a d40 right now )
