Photos NOT OK to edit
I took these for my advertising class and we were supposed to show a product in use. I can't decide which one is the best of the first two. I did a five light setup and shot it with a Nikkor 105mm Micro. Any suggestions of how to make these better would be great! Oh, and is there anything I can do about how they look after I upload them? They always look WAY desaturated. Or am I just stuck with it because of the 25 colors thing?

This is a very difficult product to shoot because it's very difficult to make the model not look like she's practicing to be in a porn movie.

The only thing I could suggest is that it looks like there's very little movement with said "shake weight", so perhaps a slower shutter speed with the model actually using the product would convey the purpose better.

Bwahaha. You've seen the commercials, right? Obviously not the easiest product for marketing in general..

Hmm, she was using it. That's why I wanted the weight to be fully extended on one side. And are you saying she looks like she's practicing to be in a porn movie?? Any advice about which of the first two is better?

She looks kinda mad in all of them... I know 'working out' is hard work, but she looks pretty pissed.

Of the first two, I don't think it matters much - they are so similar that it will come down to personal preference.

I guess I like the last one the most, but I wish she looked more like she was enjoying herself a little. Maybe put some music on or something next time.

I'm not saying it's her fault that she looks like she could be practicing for a porn movie. I'm also not saying that whatever direction you gave her was incorrect. You did everything that you could as a photographer, it's not your fault. It's simply the product and the way it's used.

Everyone looks that way when they use the shake weight. It's very difficult to make it look innocent.

My girlfriend and I both agree that the lighting is quite nice, and the background ties in with her shirt.

I agree too. Really, the only thing I don't like in them is her facial expression - everything else looks perfect.

Thanks guys. I wanted her to look serious and like she was working really hard, and I guess that is why she looks pissed, haha. I was hoping that her being serious would help it not look like she's practicing for a porn. =)
