Sharing my very first photo

I just figured out how to make my photos smaller for sharing on the web...Thought I upload my first picture.

This is in Downtown LA....I wish the photo could show up bugger than this

I presume that your file size may dictate your image size. How many MB was that file?

Before I changed it, it was 7,7 mb. after using a free online program its 47 kb

Lovely photo...period. Irrelevant of it was your first photo or not.

Now....remember the words of Henri Cartier-Bresson: "Your first 10,000 photos are your worst." So you've got 9,999 to go. Get at it. And post as you shoot them.

If your photos are hosted on another website, you can link to them using the "image" tool in the header.

This photo is too small for easy viewing. You went a little overboard with the size reduction. This photo measures 400 pixels by 277 pixels, so there is a bit more lee way to bump up the size. I usually make mine 1024 on the longest side, the shorter side being just what it turns out to be.

As to "sharing on the web", you don't need to compress them, which is what preparing them for the web means. Just re-size your JPGs to no larger than 1024 on the longest side, and they will upload quite nicely.

Yeah, see, you don't need to compress them, just re-size them.

My editing software gives me several options for exporting, so I can select from the following options or make any number of custom sizes for export.
