He's a tease, he knows, I know he knows, EXACTLY how far my lens can reach and sits JUST on the edge of that ... I think these are close enough to share.
He chased a little guy and lost so he roosted in the bushes and searched for the ones that flew into the vines and froze. He didn't find one and flew off to find higher ground I'm sure... he will be back though ... JUST out of reach.

Very nice ....time to buy a bigger lens, that ought to go over well :)

I'm in the midst of this same dance with an Eagle. He HAS to know my reach.... he just has to because he is always 50 or so feet away when he feeds. Drives me mad.

Thanks Mully! Like a lead balloon lol I'd get the standard answer "You better get sellin pictures then!" Lmao!

Dewey, so frustrating! Good luck on your quest!

Wow, he's a purrdy guy!! I wish you luck getting better shots!! I would love to see him close up!

Perhaps a tad of luminoisty sharpening and maybe a bit darker in the darker tones...

Thanks Mish, yeah me too, but unless he starts cooperating I'll have to be patient or rent a lens ;). I agree he's gorgeous!

Thanks for the edit Ceeboy :) I see where you are going with it but I think yours is a bit too "sharpened?" now, probably from working from the jpeg, this is a BIG crop. I'll tinker a bit with the raw file, you are more than welcome to the file if you feel like playing too lol I'm sure that someone better at post work could finesse this better than I have ;)

I think with the itsy bit of long focus issue, I am not sure I could do better on the jpeg. Yeah, send me the RAW file.

I'm already finding I don't use my 1.7 TC much--if you had the good sense to shoot with a Nikon, I'd seriously consider loaning it out to you to see if it would give you that extra little bit of reach you need.

Still, that's a closer and better shot than *I've* ever gotten of a hawk. :D

I use my 1.7 all the time...I never leave home without it.

Gorgeous bird, nice shot. ;)

Just look at him. How proud, how regal. How well fed. I swear these guys are in league with the camera companies.

Awsome shots pixelrabbit

Pretty cooperative subject! Good shots.

"If you had the good sense to shoot with a Nikon" lmao! Thanks for the thought Sharon! **as I wipe coffee off my computer screen**

He is! And VERY well fed, he probably picks off a Junco every few days.
Awsome shots pixelrabbit
Thanks Radical :)
Pretty cooperative subject! Good shots.

Well, cooperative in the sense that he doesn't spook too easily... not so much on being close enough ;) Thanks!
