Agree 100% !! If only the brand owned by Chrysler would have said OK to a ford engine it would have had a longer stay. I am told one of the reasons (of many) the little Tiger got the Ford mill was the distributor was on the rear of the engine. The hood (excuse me, "bonnet") would not close hitting the distributor. I was an Alpine owner who at the time as a young man couldn't afford the Tiger. I did have the chance to test drive one. Wow, What a kick! The Rip Chords...
Loved the little AC-based 289 models and the Sunbeam Tiger--small-block V8s shoehorned into '60s British sports cars.
The 427 was a brute, though. Its DNA got spliced into Shelby's Viper.
