Ah, it's a Brit thing I suppose and is the art of removing such small molluscs from their shells with a pin for eating. A Winkle being a species of small shellfish.

The Teddy Boy 'Winkle Picker' shoes were so named because of their long pointy toes.

Thank you! While I was mostly complaining about the overcast day, it provided wonderfully diffused lighting for this shot.

Baked scrod. I took this near Newport, Rhode island, where the main course is seafood every night.
