Shot in the park

I wanted to get the furthest object (the fence) in focus and have the objects more out of focus as they got closer. Used a 50mm 1.8 at 1.8 if I remember right.

The only distracting thing to me is the little bit of grass seen through the out of focus bench back

No, what he meant was that the concept of Depth of Field (DoF) is what you were doing. Depth of field is the measurement of that portion of the view that is in "acceptable" focus.

Ahh okay I was thinking I didn't hit my focus. Thanks. DOF is harder than normal for me because I have vision / color problems so I'm always worried when shooting at a shallow DOF.

I like this shot. the lines of the bench directs me right to the tree. I see the spot through the bench and it is distracting. I think a little spot exposure work could take care of that.
