Should Zebras be Black and White?

I think they should be white and black.

Is this one of those "Spot the differences between the photos" threads?

No they should be all rainbow coloured and funky with a big afro. They should also have little rockets instead of feet so they can fly around and leave rainbow trails behind.

Paint your own stripes...... But they fart rainbows.

I can say I like both, but the black and white might be noticeably better if the blacks were not so strong. Especially on the neck the pitch black really stands out too strong and in both black and white areas it appears you've lost details and finer shades in favour of the strong, powerful distinct lines. That lessens it against the colour where we can see these varying shades over the body.

Yes, I know what you mean. I think I was after a bolder B&W, but went to far.

Cheers

The bold actually works well on the fact, however I can't help but feel that its too bold on the neck. It might be a fact of the composition as well, that the neck is the main subject presented to us and that the head is somehow lesser (and a lack of a proper leading direction increases this focus on the neck). Which might be why the colour is seeming better, because there is more detail in teh hair and then neck there, whilst in the black and white its just those strong lines, but without the charm of an abstract would bring.
