Shutter count, aperture & ISO information

grab the gear and shoot.
Digitals give you lens and camera metadata. study it without adjusting anything.

the 1/500 shutter thing is an old trick I learned a bazillion years ago and it works.
I shoot slow because I mount on a tripod and play that game usually.

There are many other tricks as well.
Just take your time and read the metadata of the shot to see the difference.
Books and more books..

About this 1/500 second deal: what happens is that many things are actually in motion a lot of time. Leaves are blowing in the wind. Hands are moving. People are walking. When you use a really fast shutter speed like 1/500 of a second, you freeze thing. Your pictures appear super sharp. At 1/60 of a second there often is a lot of very subtle blur.

Thanks again all much appreciated
