If you wished to include a figure, one descending or ascending the steps would have been preferable. Black garb would have added impact. Traditional garb would have added a sense of timelessness to the scene, whilst modern would have added contrast.
Hopefully, you can re-visit the scene. It offers promise. Watch tonal range, though. The darks may be blocked.
Yes , The stairs ,the hand rail and the roof ledge are all wonderfull lines leading you to the bright area in the sun beems. A wonderfull composition needing contrast. A stop less exposure and or a little post.
An element going up the stair to the light would be cool.
