I'm looking to get my first UWA lens and am down to these two. The Tokina is significantly more expensive than the Sigma, but I'm beginning to save up and the Tokina is basically at the very upper end of my budget. They both have excellent reviews and in terms of price beat out the Nikon 12-24 by a long shot.

I would mostly be using the lens for landscape and night time cityscape shots.

What body will you shoot with?

I bought the Sigma when I had my d3000 b/c the Tokina wouldn't AF on my body and the price was a lot better. Now that I have a d90, I don't have any regrets about my purchase, but the Tokina (so I've heard...) is a lot sharper.

Shooting with a D3100

Well then, your next question will be. Do you want your UltraWide to AF on your camera. Sigma 10-20 will AF on d3100, the Tokina will not.

Yep like mentioned Tokina won't AF as the Sigma will with the HSM with built in motor in lens designation.
And had the Sigma on my D40 which also didn't have a built in motor like the D3100.
