Hello all. I just picked up a Sigma 150-500mm and a Manfrotto 680B mono pod with a Manfrotto quick release head.

Leave any CC you have. I know the composition is not great, the post processing is not great, and the overall photos are not great. Please throw ideas on what you would do. Thanks!!

I would post a link to some full-size images so we can see in detail how it performs.

I just like seeing the quality of of the photos, which is good, with this lens. This is one I have thought about buying. Did you get it new or used? Did you get it for any certain reason? Pics are not bad, just kind of boring. Keep working!

Its new. This is my first time playing with it. I took it to the water front and just shot at stuff to see how it would come out. I am pleased with the lens given it's fairly cheap.

I been looking at this lens also. Seems very appealing for the price that's for sure. Went to a local photo store and looked at a 80-400 VR used for 1000$ and really thought I should wait and see how this performs.

Can you please give more info and perhaps better quality pics :) and more :)
So far it looks really good but the pictures are a little boring. Keep us updated and keep shooting.

Im not sure on how to post a bigger photo. Sorry guys!!

No sharpening.
Just increases in clarity and contrast

Clarity is sharpening. Contrast seems a little heavy to me on the laptop screen. I also am interested to see more of this lens in action. I have researched it a lot online and its kinda hit and miss. Some people love it, some people don't. I have heard that its not that sharp especially at the long end ( which I guess is typically where every long zoom has problems ). There is a decent review below. At 500mm f/8 the 50-500 is much sharper. Other than at the 500mm mark, the lens seems to perform rather well. However, why else would you want this lens other than to shoot at 500mm.

I had the Bigma 50-500 non IS before and have considered getting the new IS version. I heard its sharper than the 150-500 ( but also like $500 more I think. )

The 150-500mm is such a nice lens for an amateur. The thing that I realized is that you need to close it down to f/8-f/11 to get something really sharp with it. You still have decent results at f/5,6-f/6,5, but it is soft. I love mine!
What was your EXIF on those shots? I can't read them in Chrome. #1 Seems a little soft to me. #1 and #4 have too much contrast. I personally likes to see more nuances in bird shots. Cranking up the contrast too much, you lose nuances in the feathers.
Nicely done first try! That lens on a monopod and a sunny day is so much fun!!:bounce:
