So I think I have my lens roadmap planned for the next 3 years or so. I think my next lens will be a 70-200/2.8 (probably Tamron), followed by the 17-70 and then eventually a 200-500. I found a 17-70 2.8-4 on ebay from a local lad at a very good price. So I went there last night to test it out.
Unfortunately it was a lens from around 2011, with no firmware updates. This means the on camera flash did not work. It would flash, and then freeze up the camera for upwards of 30 seconds. I read about this problem and the D72000, so I was prepared to test for it. I was only interested in this lens, as the price was actually quite good, and I do not want to invest in the sigma dock at this time.
Has any other D7200 shooters have this problem with the Sigma 17-70? Thought I'd post it here for other potential buyers just as a heads up. Apparently the firmware update fixes this problem.
