Silly Question - Glossy Eyes?

I've seen a lot of pictures posted on here where the person's eyes have a glossy look to them. Is there a certain setting on the camera that does that or are these pictures being photoshopped?

Probably. I'm not sure of the term.

Have a light source at about the 11 o'clock position relative to the subject. The light will reflect off the subject's eyes...therefore a 'catchlight'.

A reflection of the lighting source in the subject's eyes. Sometimes, multiple light sources show up, such as the example that you linked to.

could it be a small LED flashlight? i guess i'm just concerned cause wouldn't this affect the lighting on the face as well? or is that just the catch 22 to get this affect?

Generally, it is a flash modified by an umbrella/softbox/etc, although it can also be done done with the sky. Just look at your subject and look at their eyes. You can easily see the reflection with your naked eye.
