I'm torn between the R6 and the 90D. The 90 D is more affordable but it doesn't have animal eye detection but I have to ask myself if it's worth $1200 more. I don't want any regrets either so I may splurge.

It's worth it. Maybe not so important for you with your weather but the lowlight ability of the R6 is wonderful compared to any DSLR I've had.

The low light capability is one of my incentives, eye tracking and light weight lenses. I feel limited with my current set up-80D plus 100-400. It works great with good light, but it’s usually cloudy here. Plus the 1.4TC -can’t ever get usable pictures.
