Single Picture HDR

I do single picture HDR. Instead of combining multiple pictures, I use single picture as source to do HDR. Here are some of my efforts. I would like you guys to criticize my work.

Under the purists this does not count as HDR, intensive tone mapping at most.

Ehm, I clicked, but it brought me just to login screen. Maybe try to fix your link.
Anyway, there's no way you can do HDR with only one picture. If you think otherwise, try to learn something about it and you'll understand why very quickly.

Got into album, but can't see any HDR photos.. Are you sure you know what this term means?

Some people mistake poor tone mapping for HDR. Your images are definately NOT HDR. Saying so is a great injustice to those producing the kinds of images that HDR is capable of producing.

@Tomasko: I do know what HDR means. There are different ways to do it. Traditionally people take multiple picture of same subject under different exposure and then they combine those images to using some software like Photomatix or Dynamic-Photo HDR. I know the theory behind HDR. I was looking on the internet and I found a link that had tutorial on single image HDR. Now, I came to understand that the link was just trying to teach tone mapping instead of HDR. Thank you guys for correcting my blunder.

pseudo hdr's do not look right. They look washed out and too much color that is blended. i dont know how else to describe it

How valid is this method? Canon DLC: Article: Single Image HDR: Part I (Overview) ( I tried the method described in the aforemetioned link and I did get a result but I am not sure if that picture really count as HDR or not)
The only reason I am trying to avoid taking three different pictures is that I don't have tripod right now.

Using software like Photomatix, I align the image during post processing. I am just trying to use single RAW and then edit the RAW to make different pictures with different exposures. Then use Photomatix to work on it.

A lot of mine I dont use a tripod for. Just sit down on the ground and prop my elbows on my knees and hold as still as possible. And photomatix usually realigns them pretty well.
